"New" Nforce 2 mainboard from Abit soon

edited October 2003 in Science & Tech
The upcoming AN7, which will be based on Nvidia's NForce Ultra 400 chip set and support AMD's Athlon XP chip, will also include µGuru. The AN7 offers 10/100 Ethernet support, a digital audio interface, and Nvidia's SoundStorm technology with a real-time Dolby Digital 5.1 encoder. The board should be available at the end of October, Webskowski said. Pricing has not yet been determined.

The only new functionality with this board would be integrated SATA and the new µGuru. Abit continues the trend of releasing the same mainboard several times.

....:( And I just bought a NF7-S. In anycase this will have to wait until SATA HD prices drop a little bit more.

ABIT µGuru is the first true artificial intelligence system to be integrated onto a motherboard. ABIT µGuru is a new microprocessor designed by the ABIT Engineers for use only on ABIT motherboards and which allows end-users to reach a higher state of hardware awareness and enlightenment. µGuru acts as a spiritual guide, sharing with ABIT users, tips for hardware monitoring, overclocking, BIOS flashing and audio tweaking functions in an easy to use, Windows-based interface. As a part of the motherboard, only µGuru can completely understand how to optimize the motherboard for ultimate performance. What truly sets µGuru apart is it's onboard memory that allows users to save their favorite overclocking settings for specific applications.

µGuru combines the ABIT Engineered features ABIT EQ, ABIT FanEQ, ABIT OC Guru, ABIT FlashMenu, ABIT AudioEQ and ABIT BlackBox into a user-friendly interface providing users the perfect environment with which to maximize performance and stability. Operating as an independent micro-processor, µGuru effectively frees your CPU resources from performing these functions, further increasing system performance.

    µGuru :)

A spiritual guide? Are they serious? :bs:

Something must have been lost in the translation.

I think the person who wrote that probably got the name µFag too.

I'll believe it when I see it, sound more like just another useless buzzword that does nothing and won't be going anywhere.

I think I may buy this board simply for the MCP support, I really do want 5.1 game audio, but my sound system is too good to replace (Multiple Digital Inputs, but only Dual analog, not 6 analog inputs...).... but then what will I do with my Audigy?! ARGH...

Ditch µGuru and give me gigabit LAN. I can overclock without the assistance of a lame-as-hell spiritual overclocking guidance. :\

While µGuru admittedly sounds gay, the features actually appear to be great! This is basically a tool that allows tweaking core overclocking functions through Windows without having to reboot. FSB speed and all the voltages can be tweaked right from Windows... I think that's pretty damn sweet. Rebooting gets OLD after a while. It would be so much easier to find your system's sweet spot with this tool.

Not exactly. Maybe the first to integrate all of these features onto a single motherboard at once, but definately not the first with some technologies.

Asus has had QFan technology integrated into their motherboards for the last year and have had their Audio Port-Sensing technology integrated into onboard sound for 6-months. As for the ABIT Dashboard, Asus has been shipping their boards with PC Probe for as long as I can remember back (that being the Asus P3V4X). :)

Still, it's nice to see integrated SATA on Abit's performance motherboards. :)
