Desktop elements don't sync properly.

Lately when I come to my computer after it's been idle for several hours, I'll experience a problem that seems to be caused by the web element on my desktop (I keep a scoreboard for the Civilization games I'm currently playing up on my desktop). Here's what happens:

I sit down and move my mouse to turn the screen back on, and to deactivate the screensaver. However, once the desktop comes back up, I cant activate any shortcuts or the start button. Things will highlight, as if they are useable, bu they wont activate. By now, I know that means to look in my system tray, and click on the syncing active elements icon, which brings up a status dialog box (See attached image). The box will stay like that until I hit the stop button, at which point it will take about ten seconds to stop the attempt. Afterward, everything I tried to do beforehand will all activate at once...

If I then manually choose to refrech my web elements, then they will sync up instantaniously. It's starting to get on my nerves, and I'm tempted to remove that web element from my desktop, in order to avoid the problem, but it's so conveinient to have it there, that I'd really like to figure this out instead.

I'm going to try altreing the settings on how often it syncs, and see if som other combination would help (right now, it's set to sync every two hours precicely, and also whenever the system is idle for 15 minutes.), but if anyone has seen this issue before and knows just what is causing it, that would be faster, I'm sure.

Thanks.
