not quite sure whare in the forums this fits in, but i have an HP5L laser printer, its a good little thing except 1 little problem. When it prints sometimes it will print a full sheet, suck in another go about 1/2 way down or more, and start printing the rest there, then if it wont fit on the <= portion of that page, it will suck another down and repeat the process, it mostly fine printing word documents, but it dont like the interwebnet print jobs too much, has any 1 had a similar problem? im gonna see about drivers after this post, thx

    Armogeddon,

I am pretty sure that is a either Firmware or driverproblem.
Which driver do you use, Adobe Postscript or just a regula PCL driver?

Print out a configuration sheet , there you should see the firmware. It should say 2 or 3 different firmwares, Engine, software and maybe one more.

Ok, The firmware is from 95 and you probably use a browser/software that is a lot newer. That MIGHT be the problem here and i am sure there is a firmware update.

/me is looking right now for a firmware update for Laserjet 4

PS:Have you used the software utility they use?

    http://www.hp.com/cposupport/networking/support_doc/bpj07126.html

That should be able to update anything on that printer as far as i know.

Ohh. am i that blind?? Is it the 5 you have? Sorry bud, im looking again. Dammit, i need to work less and sleep more. Sorry for the confusion.

Try first with the latest drivers from HP instead of the built-in XP junk.

the HP LaserJet 4, 5, 6 PCL5e Driver, are what i just installed, i chaged the DPI to 300, and its printing better, not like it should be though, is there like a FIT TO PAGE, option, cuz so far its working correctly not choping iot off half way in, but it still cuts off things on the right, like a excell type speadsheet webpage with columns and rows.

You can always kill or change the margins, but anything less than 3-4mm from the edge isn´t supported by HP i´m sure.

Do you use A4 or Letter? Maybe even Legal size?

Sometimes, Letter and/or Legal needs more margins than A4. The print engine controller on older printers isn´t as intelligent like newer printers. That´s where the firmware to the engine of the printer comes in in some cases. It´s a good printer you have though, there is hardly any OS that isn´t supported by it. I know several companys that uses it for As 400.
