    Folding@home Core Shutdown: INTERRUPTED

Does anyone have any advice on why my fah was interrupted?

I'm not trying to ignore you, honest!

Seriously, I have no idea what's interupting the service. My limited experience with running as a service has been 'set it and forget it'. Are you trying to run only 1 client?

I'm sure one of the 'gurus' will chime in at some point.

well I'm sure I'll figure it out. and don't worry donut, I know you're not ignoring me.:nudge:

i'd say run memtest86 to see if ur ram is doing all right..since you haven't oc'ed (which usually leads to a core shutdown) the only other hting i could think could cause this would be some faulty RAM...if not..then you should check your cpu temps..if they are too high maybe thats causing it..open your rig up and clean out the cpu fan..and if you have any high end thermal grease on your hands and you have some low grade stuff on the cpu now, it might be a good idea to change it up
  • PsycoKillrPsycoKillr Mason City, Iowa

well I tried to unzip the memtest86 but it is either invalid or corrupted. any other ideas?

sorry friend, we can try something else for now.

can you shutdown your pc, and run it with 1 memory stick?

that way we can determine which one is acting up.

well I've removed the mem sticks 1 at a time and tried to get the Fahcore to run but still nothing. any ideas?:bawling:

    good stuff psyco,

next up is testing how stable your pc is.

close all apps, and download and extract this http://files1.extremeoverclocking.com/863df48fe94433eb25f19b0665657a9d/motherboard/utilties/p95v2414.zip

1- run prime95.exe, it will give you a choice, just select "JUST STRESS TESTING"

2- click on options and select "TORTURE test"

3- select blend and press ok.

this test will stress the hell out of your ram. this app should not fail for hours and hours of testing. if it does fail, something is up with your memory/system
  • PsycoKillrPsycoKillr Mason City, Iowa
    edited July 2006
ok. NOw before I run this stress test lemme ask you a question? have you seen the overclocking video where the blew the chip through the table? if you have will that be a possiblity here with my comp?
  • citrixmetacitrixmeta Montreal, Quebec Icrontian
    edited July 2006
yes i have seen that video, it was totaly rigged :)

no it wont, your running a P4 machine. it will crash and prolly shutdown before anything like that happens.
