Warning! Dell 3007 30" USB lockup Issue

edited July 2006 in Hardware
Just a note to get his issue out on the search engines.

I received my Dell 3007WFP Factory Fresh and installed without any issues. After a day or so I started experiencing random system Freezes and lockups under stress and at Idle

At the time I had no idea it was the 3007. I since have replaced just about every piece of hardware on my system, PSU,MOBO, FANS, 3 GRx Cards monitored temps were fine . It cost me about $500 bucks so far and 4 hours a day for two weeks. Nothing helped. I even tried my old LCD! Philips 200p. Funny, I just placed it on the desk right in front of the 3007 ( BUT I DIDN'T UNPLUG THE DARN USB!!!!!)

I was talking to AMD about having my chip scoped when I came across a post in

http://www.anetforums.com/posts.aspx?ThreadIndex=5565

Somebody Posted a message about an issue with a card reader. Same symptoms, same issues. Funny it got me to thinking, The 3007 has a card reader on the side. I unplugged it from the USB and its has been fine ever since.

Who would have thought a dam card reader on a monitor could crash a system!!!!!

An FYI for anybody having freeze or crashes!
