    I think there may be problems with your sig as the page size shows as being around the 2.8 Mb!! I don't want to be downloading that at each post :).

    thanks a lot crunchie, im probably gonna have to go over his house and do this either today or tomorrow because i dont know if he will be able to do all that ............ but when i do that ill come on her and post the next log

    Ok i went to his house did all that you said, i also fixed some hijackthis entrys i knew he didnt need and thought were bad, like search assistance and stuff,

    everything on his computer is better so far, internet dont mess up, its running faster, IE doesnt close out as soon as you go to type in a web adress, everything is fixed..........

    except the aim virus, apparently his computer is still trying to send the aim virus out............. is there any way he can get rid of this?

    i was thinking maybe open hijackthis and fix all the aim files and then uninstall aim and then reinstall it, but i dont know if that will work?

    so is there any way to get rid of the aim virus?

    thanks a lot crunchie:respect: :smiles:

    What I had you do was only preliminary and there is a lot more to do :). I will need to see the hijackthis report to go any further with this. An Ewido log would also be appreciated.
    You may also want to run the AIMFIX tool from jayloden.

    Can you please do the following.

    ===============

    Scan with HiJackThis, then check(tick) the following, if present:

    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = about:blank

    O2 - BHO: CExtension Object - {0019C3E2-DD48-4A6D-ABCD-8D32436323D9} - C:\WINDOWS\cfg32p.dll
    O2 - BHO: CFG32S - {7564B020-44E8-4c9b-A887-C6EC41AC67DA} - C:\WINDOWS\cfg32r.dll
    O2 - BHO: Scaggy Insert - {C68AE9C0-0909-4DDC-B661-C1AFB9F59898} - C:\WINDOWS\cfg32o.dll

    O3 - Toolbar: Search - {669695BC-A811-4A9D-8CDF-BA8C795F261C} - C:\WINDOWS\cfg32s.dll

    O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://kl.bar.need2find.com/KL/menusearch.html?p=KL

    O16 - DPF: {666DDE35-E955-11D0-A707-000000521958} - http://69.56.176.227/webplugin.cab

    O18 - Filter: text/html - {B5F86455-BF18-4E12-965A-6642A0AC0549} - (no file)

    O20 - Winlogon Notify: Nls - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dnnlobby.dll (file missing)

    O23 - Service: Firewall service (FWSvc) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\WinAntiVirus Pro 2006\FWSvc.exe (file missing)

    Now, close all instances of Internet Explorer and any other windows you have open except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

    ===============

    Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure you are able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

    files...

    C:\WINDOWS\cfg32p.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\cfg32r.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\cfg32o.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\cfg32s.dll

    -

    Note that some of these file(s)/folder(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them in Safe Mode by doing the following:
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear use arrow up to highlight
    Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode hit enter.

    -

    Reboot.

    ===============

    To help protect your system from hostile ActiveX content, or special 'downloadable' files:

    Download, install and keep updated, SpywareBlaster. If you've installed it for the first time:

    1) Check for any available updates; if present, they'll be automatically downloaded and installed.
    2) Next, "Enable all protection".
    3) Exit the program.

    -

    Note: Remember to regularly check for updates.

    ===============

    After rebooting, rescan with hijackthis and post back a new log. Please let me know how your pc is now.
