IE has the plugins because wmp can integrate with it since they are both made by M$, not sure if FF can integrate WMP

i got it working, by working around it. I noticed that it worked fine in IE, knowing that i downloaded "IE tab", then i added "*.wmv*" to the section where i always want it to open in IE. It makes it so another tab for firefox opens, acting like IE, and opens the wmv file like how i wanted it to. :Rocker:

What version of FF are you running? and what version of WMP are you running? I noticed that if you have WMP 11 installed, one of the more recent (though not the most recent version of FF) doesn't stream WMP properly. DLing the most recent build of WMP 11 (if you have it) or DLing FF 1.5.0.6 should fix your issues.

EDIT: For clarity FF version 1.5.0.5 broke WMP streaming, so if you have that version, there is your problem.

Okay I played around with FF settings, to see if I could find anything that triggers the movie not playing, since we have the exact same setup. When I turned off Java and Javascript the movie would no longer play until I restarted FF, just reenableing them didn't work. Check to see if you have either one turned off.

The way WMP streaming is working with FF and WMP 11 is its actually opening up a copy of WMP11, i think your security settings in FF might be stopping it from calling WMP to open.

Hope that helps a bit, I'll be fooling with the settings in both WMP and FF to see if there are any other little quirks.

And another problem, on some sites, such as http://humorhole.com/Elijah-Wood-Punked-video805.htm (humorhole)
No video plays, it doens't even have the outline, it doens't even look like a movie should be there, but the audio plays, but only in FF does this happen, not in IE

The most likely cause for this problem is that the server where that video file is located is setup incorrectly. Send a short email to the webmaster telling them that their "mime.type settings for wmv is likely missing". Browsers like IE and Safari will load these files regardless, but Firefox will have problems. The webmaster will probably fix the problem as this will effect most people using Firefox (which is a lot) as well as some people using other browsers as even IE and other browsers may have problems. It is likely that the webmaster doesn't actually "own" the server and likely have no clue about running a server so they may have to send an email to the company that manages it asking them to look into it and correct the problem.
