No Sound. Error message when using winamp.
Well I have no sound in counterstrike for a start. I can't play music on Winamp or any other program for that matter.
When I start winamp I get the error message saying this:
DirectSound output v2.43 (d) error
Bad DirectSound driver. Please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration.
Error Code: 88780078
I used my drivers CD to reinstall my onboard sound drivers(Realtek AC'97).
Any ideas?Suggestions?
EDIT: I just ran dxdiag and it said that "no sound card was found. If one is expected, you should install a sound driver provided by the hardware manufacturer." I googled this error also and came across something about the error message and not using directX9.0 but instead 8.1. I have no idea what this would do for me but I decided to mention it. My mx440 gfx card is running directX 9.0c. Could this be a problem? Also It has nothing under display and I just reinstalled the vidia drivers like 5 minutes ago. I have a feeling that there are some background programs that are disabled
