i have a friend that use IE (and god only knows why), but she asked me if i knew how to fix this problem, concerning the way pages are displayed.

Sorry to be a bother, and i know its probably the simplest thing ever to fix, but can anybody help on how she can fix this problem?

I am not sure what version of IE she is running, i have asked, but she isn't sure what she means by the version of IE

Here's a screenshot:

That is the msn homepage in the screenshot...

she has run a virus check, yet she is still having this problem. i think it's to do with the settings?

thanks

Hi, most likely this has nothing to do with the computer itself. However most every web browser sees the code that makes up a webpage a little different than the other. Internet Explorer is among in my opinion the worst browsers for showing a bunch of messed up jibberish when you view a webpage however IE is the most complex offering more viewing options. Firefox on the other hand keeps things simple. The reason you see the wierd out of place websites is because they are not cross browser optimized by the webmasters which can be check at W3C code validation services. When IE encounters code it doesnt understand it throws crap everywhere. However in a simple browser like Firefox with less security exploits to boot most of the code errors it does not understand it will just ignore instead of vomiting on your viewing pleasure. Basically If I understand the problem correctly. there is nothing that can be done. On 2nd a note I just glanced at your screenshot again there it seems possibly there may be some other things going perhaps that can be fixed because msn should display perfectly in IE. Go to the IE settings and make sure images are enabled while viewing and make sure that in the tools or preference section whatever IE calles, make sure the Javascript is enabled there. It will simply have a check box more than likely to enable javascript. Make sure it is enable as over half the web utilizes javascript.. Sorry I dont exactly have to tutorial telling where to click step by step but you managed to get a screenshot on a forum so your smart enough figure out where these options are. Just cycle through the menus at the top of the browser and as well right click IE and click on properties and check out what the settings are there as well. GL
