Bad RAM module? need to verify.

So I got another 512mb DIMM for my MacBook Pro the other day. It's the same speed (PC2-5300) as the other DIMM that came standard. It shows up fine in the system config, but at random points, once every few hours, OS X keeps crashing on me and I need to reboot. I figure it's the RAM stick, but can anyone translate this debug to confirm before I return it?

Thanks a lot, and sorry if this should be in the software forum.

I don't know of a memory tester that will boot up on your mac... The "hillbilly test" is to take the original stick of ram out, run your computer on the new stick only, and see if you still crash. Chances are the ram is bad if the problems started happening when you put the 2nd dimm in... Is it exactly the same (brand, model #, etc) as the original stick?

It may not have the same settings (CAS and such) and hte machine is confused.
If the machine runns fine on just the new stick (make sure that it is in the slot that the original was). Then put the original back in with it, but leave the new one in the first slot.
