You probably have too many startup programs and maybe even services running in the background. Perhaps some of them are adware, spyware, malware, whatever you wanna call them, or some of them could be programs you installed.
  • edited August 2006
i have only kept the basic ones. let me list them:
    1. norton antivirus 2006
    2. windows defender

    and nothing much significant.
do u need any thing else to verify??

But I'll bet you also have Adobe Reader and it's thing that starts with the Op Sys, I'll bet you have iTunes, QuickTime, RealPlayer, Java, some HP printer thing and all the other programs that love to have some unnecessary auto-update thing that starts up and runs every time you boot up.

Do you know how to post a HiJackThis log?

    Hey Wugs,
I don't appreciate you postin something like that.
I recommend this site to people, families, with youngsters that want to learn pc stuff too.
I know this is a free speech country, but we don't need all the foul references here. I noticed alot of this kind of stuff starting up on this site and it's not polite speech. It's not cool either.

perhaps an explanation? that seems a bit random, almost to the point as it wasn't him.

That's true too. Someone may have picked his password and is trying to get him in trouble.
Sorry Wugs if that is the case.

    It happens...

Now, how about all the folks who were drawn to this thread by the hubbub lend a hand in helping nitin_cool get his problem solved.

In that vein, nitin_cool, try downloading HijackThis and posting a copy of the log here. We'll help you sort out the slugs among the startup programs. :)

You should try Startup Control Panel. Along with that, I usually keep tabs on what programs want to start up and remove the unnecessary ones and I also use a custom reg hack when I initially install XP that disables all the services I don't need. Regular defrag is also a good idea.

Try posting a HijackThis log or screenshots from Startup CPL.

im here with attaching the hijackthis startup list. kindly review this and tell me what programs should be stopped from loading in the start up.
