Internet Explorer will not stay open
More and more frequently IE is closing spontaneously with messages such as:
'The instruction at 0x77f83905 referenced memory at 0x00500065. The memory could not be 'written'.
Click on OK to terminate program.'
Then, but only sometimes:
'An error has occurred in IE. IE will now close.
If you continue to experience problems, please restart your computer'.
Restarting does nothing.
Usually however there is no explanation, just a reporting message from Microsoft (send-don't send)
For what it's worth, I've been trying to download the Service Pack 2 for Windows XP and it gets about halfway through and bails. Message - something like 'access denied'.
Email is normal.
Amazingly I've been able to get through this note without being thrown off...
Anybody got an idea of how I can correct this?
