Time For A New Fresh Install Of Windows XP?

edited August 2006 in Science & Tech
OK, the problem is that I think I might need either a new install of Windows XP instead of just doing a factory restore. Why? Because my image is a bit crooked and the buttons on the screen don't work. I remember coming across this problem like a year or 2 ago and I called Customer Support and they suggested I do a factory restore, something like that, I'm not exactly sure.
I've had this machine for almost 4 years (yeah that's old) and It came pre-installed with Windows XP so I don't have no XP Disc. I'd hate to buy a new copy of Windows XP if I didn't really need it, on the otherhand, if I have no choice I guess I would. Any Suggestions are always appreciated.

you can do a fresh install from some of the factory cd (dell, hp, ect.) Thats what I did on my dell laptop. It came with a CD from dell. I just slapped it in the tray and it booted just like a Microsoft CD. But those cd's won't work with other systems that where not built by them. Hope this helps, Adam
