Apparently Dell chose the Sony Corporation to supply a large consignment of batteries for their notebooks and wants to pass the buck and blame Sony for its public relations nightmare.
According to a source from Dell, Sony was chosen to deliver a large batch of batteries based on their reliance to be trustworthy. However of the batteries delivered from 1 April 2004 to 18 July 2006, some may be faulty and can lead to them exploding. Dell has started to recall over 4 million notebooks that contain the errand batteries. The recall starts at entry-level notebooks and spans the full range up to the high-end XPS series.
