Can't delete message from outlook express

I cannot delete messages from outlook express. I have tried compacting the folders and it still does not work.

I am using windows xp and am using the user id of kellie. I would be very grateful of some help. Mant thanks

    What happens when you try? If you get an error message, write it down and post it here. :)

    I don't get any message. When I go into the message itself and not on preview I get the message 'this message cannot be deleted'. I cannot delete old or any new messages.
