Loaded XP SP2, computer won't boot up!
I'm working on a Compaq Presario 5000, 1.8 Ghz Athlon, 256 MB. I reloaded XP Home, and all was well. I got some updates from Microsoft Update. All was well.
I got Service Pack 2 from Microsoft Update, and now all the computer will do is show the black screen with red COMPAQ letters, then the Windows XP Home screen for 10 seconds or so, then a very brief flash of the BSOD, then there's a click sounding noise in the computer, and it starts over at the COMPAQ screen. And it repeats this over and over.
WTF?
I tried resetting the BIOS defaults, and that didn't help. Could it be a bad power supply?
Ideas?
