I got a side job and i will be making enuf money off it to build a personal pc with a new opteron chip. What i need is the cheapest cpu/mobo/ram combo i can get. If anyone can help this would be greatly apriciated! BTW it will fold 24/7 for Angel_Heather

well ia m running a 2500+ on a Nf7-s the cpu doesnt want to be oced so i am thinking of getting a 3000+ and ocing that or going athlon 64 but i think i might save as much cash as i can for the trip to the big D

I agree with Kanez. 64 is the way to go right now. There is even a way to unlock the 64 or if it was the FX now. I have seen benches with 280 fsb and a multi of 8. INCREDIBLE memory bandwidth.

well i think I need to save teh cash for the trip to the big D so i can whip shorty in UT in person. I think the 3000+ 400 fsb on my nf7-s will suffice for now

Yes as long as it's a Rev 2.0.

Why are you having OC probs?

ahh its the chip its never really oced well. Dont worry it being sold to an office so it will be fne there. I just ordered a 3000+ plus 400 fsb so i will still make around 500 for the trip to the LAN

I would suggest a board that runs with the K8T800 chipset, atLEAST two sticks of the new Kingston Registered HyperX memory, and the fastest Athlon 64-FX 51 that you can afford.

The socket 754 will be cheaper, but the performance is worse. IF you've got the money, you'll love the FX.

One benefit of opteron vs. a64:

You can actually buy the parts and build an Opteron box today.. A64 parts are hard to come by.

Newegg has 5 K8T800 motherboards, as well as Athlon64 and athlon 64-FX. All in stock.

Trip to the Big D ?? Where you going anyway? Just asking because Dallas is called the "Big D" also although I wasnt thinking you meant Dallas since your gonna be playing Shorty in some game but ... If you get down here we gotta hook up for dinner or something.

    Tex,

He's referring to Detroit as the big D.

That's where they are having the SM-LAN.
