Unmountable boot volume!! chkdsk wont work

edited August 2006 in Hardware
Hi everyone, i'm new here and i've been reading through all of the unmountable boot volume information and threads and have done chkdsk /r and p, the fixboot etc. The blue screen which says unmountable boot volume persists, is there anything else I can do other than the reformat which everyone seems to keep pushing? If there's anything I can do to not lose all of my data and work that would be so great, so any suggestions are welcome. thanks!

A Repair Install will likely fix your problem and will leave your personal data and settings intact. If you need help doing it just ask. :)

You may also want to run the diagnostic test from your hard drive manufacturer to make sure that it's physically OK.
