How to make this motherboard overclock?

I was given an old computer, and I've been playing around with it to make it into an extra folding system.

It's a Biostar M7VKQ Version 1.0 motherboard, and came with 256 MB RAM, and I have it running on an old 3 GB hard drive with Windows 2000.

The CPU in it was a Duron 1000. I put in an Athlon XP2400 and it would not boot up, but the fans would run until I shut it off.

I put in an Athlon MP1600 (1.4 Ghz CPU), but CPU-Z 1.30 shows it only running at 1050 Mhz instead of 1400.

It looks like the only overclocking settings I can change is the FSB.

The multiplier stays locked at 10.5 on CPU-Z 1.30 .

Is there anything I can do for this thing to make it run faster?

Set the FSB to 133 instead of 100. Very old, common problem.

Yes, that fixed it. I downloaded the manual online, and saw the jumper that had to be moved to put it on 133 FSB. My MP1600 runs at 1400 Mhz now like it should.

I tried a little overclocking, but it seems only the FSB is adjustable, and it doesn't like to run if it's more than 1-2 notches over stock speeds.

    Next problem:

I put in an Athlon 2400 CPU (2 Ghz), but it doesn't boot up, POST beep, or show anything on the monitor. More reading in the online manual shows that the motherboard can handle "UP TO" Athlon XP 2000+ CPU core speeds.

Does that mean a 2400 won't work? It says 2000+ with the plus, and 2400 is "plus" on the 2000, right?

Would it need a BIOS update to run the 2400 CPU?

It might be able to run 2400+ CPUs, however the "+" on the rating numbers of Athlons has always been just part of the number, indicating it could be faster than 2400(MHz) in some cases. 2000+ means 2000+, if it supported a 2400+ it would say "Up to 2400+"

See if they ever released a new BIOS for it.
