AIM will not connect ..

My AIM refuses to connect... thing is my ARES program and my internet are both running like a champ.
I have uninstalled and then reinstalled AIM.
I have also downloaded an older version on AIM that isnt Triton and the older version connects and works.
I just moved to college and everything else is working and even my roommates Triton is working.
Anything that could shed some light on my situation would be appreciated.
