XP System Info Hacked!! Help?

Ok I typed up a very big informative post that even had a scroll bar it was so informative. I guess I need to keep it short and sweet as the forum logged me out when I clicked submit. Admins should extend user session time before loggin us off. Anyhow here it is again. Long story short my computer in the past had no security protection what so ever.. bout 2 years ago. Now the computer is loaded with security and virus and spyware free with a clean registry. Anyhow in the past my system information was changed by a hacker or virus. The portion that should say "Registed To: My NAME" instead of my name being there is says "Not you, no longer" I need to find out how to fix this. As well I dont know if this is related but compaq said my serial number is one numer off from what their records show. I hope thats not related. However it does have my name in their records. So anyone know how I can fix my system info without something drastic like like reinstalling xp or some garbage like that.. Thanks for any help.. Compaq sure didnt want to help unless i gave them 50 dollars to answer a question.

    You say your machine is loaded with a Virus Checker and Spyware checker, run a full system check with both of them to see if either of them pick anything up. Also have you downloaded and ran/installed anything around the time that happened?
