Tell Windows to stop making fun of me!

Windows is mean:

I don't have any USB 2 ports on my laptop, so everytime I plug in a modern USB device, Windows feels compeled to tease me about it.

"This device would work faster if it were plugged into a USB2 port" it says mockingly in a little yellow bubble, "Click here for a list of ports."

Of course, I already know that I don't have any USB2 ports, and so does Windows, since it already compiled that list of all my not-USB2 ports!

There is no reason for that message except to make me feel bad about my port speed everytime I plug in a pen drive (which is many times per day).

Is there anyway to get windows to quit this particular immature behaviour?

assuming it's just a standard balloon tip, you can turn them all off:

    1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then press ENTER.
    2. Navigate to the following subkey:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
    3. Right-click the right pane, create a new DWORD value, and then name it EnableBalloonTips.
    4. Double-click this new entry, and then give it a hexadecimal value of 0.
    5. Quit Registry Editor. Log off Windows, and then log back on.

    or buy a pcmcia usb2 card ;)

I thought that windows was designed to make fun of people.
Isn't that Bill Gates trying to get even.
