I keep all of my songs in one big folder and everytime i download something new I add it to that. Anyway i changed hte name of that folder and then when I went to update my itunes library it made duplicates of every single song...basically it kept all the old songs from before i changed the name, and then after i changed the name. It shows the old ones with that exclamation point showing that it cant find the file so now i have to go through and delete them. Is there a way that I can get itunes to delete all of these duplicate files that arent actually there? i really dont want to go through and manually delete all of them

I think you can delete the index files in the main folder of the music folder which should reset it all.

I think you also might want to change your default iTunes music folder location to the new folder. Otherwise iTunes might do it all again after you clean up. Just go to Edit> Preferrences...> Advanced and use the browse button to reset your music folder.

I think you can go to Edit > Show Duplicates, although that will show all the duplicated songs, which could be all of them. Another thing, if the folder you are selecting has a playlist in it, iTunes not only adds all the songs to the library, but it adds all the songs on the playlist again, making duplicates. Why don't you just select all, right click, and clear them once, and then just add the folder again...
