Well I just put together the CHEAPEST Core 2 Duo system I could find parts for.

Gigabyte GA-945P-S3

Core 2 Duo E6300

A-Data Vitesta 2x512MB PC2-5300

Cheap motherboard with cheap RAM and the cheapest Core2Duo proc. It's fast though. I set the client to download big units and both of them managed to download 153 pointer Amber units.

CPUZ and part of a folding log. I'm only running a 7% overclock (2GHz.) With these components I don't really expect too much from it. I'm using the stock Intel cooler as well. On a P1809 it's running about 14.5 minutes per frame.

If the board have working dividers, that chip will easily do 3ghz on stock vcore and cooler. Do you have lower divider than 1:1?

1.5 is as low as the BIOS goes. I now have it running at 2.4GHz, still running RAM below spec too. 47c @ full load running 2 instances of folding.

I can't seem to get anywhere past 2.5GHz without posting problems. I'm not really surprised though, with all these cheap components I never expected much of an overclock. This machine wasn't built for that anyways. It's just a security camera monitoring station computer. Hah
