wireless connection help

so i've just moved into an apartment where my roommate has wireless internet on her computer--she doesn't use a phoneline, just a wireless usb adapter

so the problem is i have a laptop and like me, she has no idea the whats and hows on how i can share the wireless connection she has. my laptop is an updated version so it can detect any wireless connection and all that jazz. i just need help in succeeding

    They key is getting into the router's wireless configuration (assuming that there is one, and it is not a hotspot conxion), unless it is wide open. If it is, go to connections on you wireless adapter and search for available networks. You should see the SSID broadcasted, seeing as how the does not know much about it. If security is enabled, you will be prompted for a passcode. You select connect, and see what it does.
