I saw this over on another forum. Anyone care to guess as to its legality? The people posting on the other forum seemed to come to the conclusion that it's "barely legal."

Any thoughts? It's a sweet deal if it's legit.

On the CD it states you must legally own a copy of their license to use this CD.

something tells me that buying the cd doesn't give you that license.

The site also states that it comes with an authentic product key for registration and activation.

I can sell you my msdn version for that much. It comes with an authentic product key for registration and activation. You don't have a license to use it.

It may be authentic, but that doesn't mean legal - it just means it will work. It's probably either keygenned or resold.

There's no way it's ''keygenned'' and able to be activated at the same time. I've never heard of a keygen that would get past the ''genuine advantage'' crap. Either way...if it's a working, OEM XP CD with a working key that can be activated, it's worth it.

Actually that's not true. There is a keygen out there at the moment (you're thinking of the keygens that just spew out preset keys, a real keygen generates the code based on the same method the company would use, ergo if the keygen doesn't work they've either blocked all keys or it's not really a keygen) that can actually generate real valid keys for any version of XP (it does truely generate them although I believe it just generates a shedload of keys that "should" technically work then bruteforces a pseudo XP authentication system to see which are valid). Ergo if they started blocking those keys they'd be blocking random peoples real keys aswell.

I have purchased from them before with no problems.
Some items I have purchased include:
    Refurb'd laptop
4 Logitech Cordless click optical mice
10 Pack of SCSI HDs from a long time ago
    MP3 USB 2.0 Player
    Hand Held Steamer
Children's software Box Sets for my kids
and some other little things here and there.

It is a great deal that they are offering, but being weary is a good thing anyhow.
