Windows Server 2000 and XP

edited September 2006 in Science & Tech
I am having problems getting windows server 2000 to prompt end users for a password change when accessing shared drives.

When setting up new users on the server I set the password as "default" and then check the box "User must change password on next login"

The only problem is that its never prompting to change the password on the next login. All users setup so far have just been dummy accounts and thus given "Full Control" All end users are on Windows XP Pro SP2 as well

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

You could always setup group policy in active directory

I'm not sure you can activate the "Password Expired, Please Reset" when accessing a share. I believe you can only do that during logon.

^^^ Q is right - you can only have that prompted at login.
