No sound

edited September 2006 in Hardware
I have Win. XP. Whenever I reboot, I have no computer sounds. I have to go to the control panel, and reinstall the driver. The driver is ksolay.ax. It is coming from Win. system 32. Is there a way I can correct this?
Thank you,
Lorraine

    What motherboard are you running?
Do you get a windows message to reinstall, or does it just vanish?

    I don't understand your question. I have a Dell dimension 2400.
There is no error message, just no sound.

That is what I do when I have to reinstall the driver. I click on update driver. Then I have sound, but whenever I shut down and reboot, I have to do this everytime.
