Looking for an MP3 Player

I've decided that I want a MP3 player, but I am having a hard time deciding.

I see that apple has put out the new ipods, which interest me, especially the 80gb version. and I would get it if they werent notorious for their batteries dying after 18 months or so.

Then I was looking at creative, which seems to have one I would like, the vision:m, but it is only 30GB, not big enough for what I want.

Then there is the toshiba gigabeat, which fits the bill at 60gb of capacity, but I have seen mixed reviews of it, not to mention I dont like that it is windows only.

These are the 3 that I am really looking at, but have been unable to decide. I would buy the vision if it offered the capacity that I need, and I would buy the ipod if they were expected to last longer than 18 months.

Any recommendations, or would you choose one that I have listed? Or has anyone heard of anything that might be coming out from creative along the lines of a vision with more capacity?

What would you need a 60 gig ipod for? Thats ridiculous. I have 2100 songs + videos and its only 11.7 gigs. If you ask me its just a way for them to make more money. If you somehow would manage to fill up a 30 gig completely theres no way you would listen to every single one of those songs unless you have no life. Not trying to sound like an ass but a 60 gig ipod is just insane. As for the battery I've had my ipod photo for about 2 years and the charge that the battery holds doesnt seem to be dropping yet...which is unusual.

pretty much everyone here hates ipods because theyre too "popular", thrax will surely say something. The sound quality is excellent on my ipod video and photo....and it will last more than 18 months otherwise no one would have them. Creative has some nice ones, but other than that im not a fan. Overall itunes is the best program which is why i love ipods so much. The scrollwheel is so nice.

I support iPod nanos. The rest give you herpes.

    Posted by request.

//EDIT: iPods are indeed notorious for dying batteries after 18 months. People buy them anyways because they're retarded.

Lol thrax. ne way dont get an iPod - iTunes is rubbish. I've got a 20 gig iRiver, which works just like an external hd, you don't need to install anything on the computer to put files on it. You can get a 40gig version - the h340 I think. Dunno if the 40gig plays films or not, and the loading time for mine (with 3.5k songs) is about 1.5 mins.. but the sound quality is awsum.
    The scrollwheel is so nice.
    Right. it's impossible!
I dunno much about other mp3 players, other than iriver owns apple (except in size)

actually, I need the space. I have around 45 gigs of music, and dont expect to stop acumulating more at any time. You could call me a music freak, I love it. I could give less about itunes, I think it is kind of bloated, but so is napster. And about the part of having no life, I have one, I just choose to enjoy my music, which is a very diversified collection. Not to mention I would like the headroom to store other files on it along with my music. I love how the nanos look, but they just dont have enought space for me. and I have no interest in constantly changing what files I have on the player.

anyway, any suggestions rather than bashing of the players

I own a Ipod Nano "2GB" "my wife’s" and a Ipod Video 30GB On my Ipod Vid, I have about 7000+ "19.85GB" songs which 80% of them show up as never listened to :) My wife has about 1000+ songs and it is ample enough for her to work out and do whatever she does with it.

Now I also have the last 4 seasons of 24 and the last 2 seasons of Lost on my ipod with about 4 full length movies. I have to say watching videos on the ipod video is pointless as 90% of the time the movie lasts longer than the battery... they have stuff to extend the bat life... but that is just bull crap if you ask me, I should be able to watch 1 full movie on a full charge.

Ipod is a great product, batt issue aside Itunes is what helps drive the Ipod. 99cent music and ease of download makes it pretty cool. I just wish creative would create a system that would blow it away as I believe creative has a better product....

u can use an ipod as an external hard drive also...you dont have to fill it all with music...unless its bible music :vimp:

ive owned a 20gb non-color ipod, 512mb ipod shuffle, and now have a 2gb nano. all have served me well.

I've got a Zen Vision:M and love it. Maybe for lots of movies, the 30Gb isn't quite enough, but seriously, 30Gb is A LOT of space! But what I like most about the Vision:M is that it's format compatibility is very diverse and you're not chained to a single crappy program like iTunes. I just use Windows Media Player to copy music and movies to my Zen. You may pay twice the price of an iPod, but in the end, I support the Vision:M and think that it's worth it.
