ATI has been boasting about 80nm tech coming out for its new chipsets, but it looks as if Nvidia released the GeForce 7700 rather than talk about it. This now makes Nvidia the first graphics manufacturer to produce 80nm GPU’s to the retail market.
The first notebook GPUs manufactured using 80-nanometer process technology, the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7700 GPU features advanced technologies that deliver cutting-edge 3D, high-definition (HD) video and advanced power management to the notebooks, enhancing the mobile computing experience. Features include:

-- Support for the latest games and applications with DirectX 9.0 Shader
Model 3.0 and film quality high dynamic range (HDR) lighting, enabling
more realistic, real-time gaming.
-- H.264 hardware accelerated support through NVIDIA PureVideo technology-
the combination of HD video processors and software delivers a HD home-
theater quality video experience to the PC.
-- NVIDIA PowerMizer(R) technology, with advanced power management
features that enable dramatic performance enhancements in the same
power budget as the previous generation of NVIDIA mobile GPUs. The
reduced power consumption and less heat generation result in cooler and
smaller notebooks with increased battery life.
-- A high-performance 3D architecture built for Microsoft Windows
Vista(TM) -- the industry's first operating system to require a
dedicated GPU to realize its full potential.
Sounds like Nvidia is beating ATI to the punch on a few things. An 80nm GPU will allow Nvidia’s already cooler and less power hungry GPU's drop even lower in power consumption and run a bit cooler. Also the 7700 is going to be nice boost in the laptop graphics market, sporting 12 pipes rather than 8 like the 7600, the 7700 should give a nice 50% boost in pixel bandwidth.
