how to get video tape to the hard drive...

hello everyone *_*


just want to copy my tape from the camcorder

to the hard drive on the pc


using....

windows xp pro sp2

panasonic NV-GS40 mini DV (pal)

firewire connection

sony vegas 6/pinnicle studio 9/windows movie maker


the camera works in all three as a 'web-cam' (usb only)

i can get the still photos off the tape (usb only)


please help *_*

p.s.

i updated the 'bug-fix' from microsoft........

WindowsXP-KB885222-v2-x86-ENU.exe

that sorts the firewire out after the sp2

installation

    What software came with the camera?
    I use ULead that came with my Sony. Not fast, but it is straight forward.

    Im sure you can capture using windows movie maker. I use Adobe so I dont know details of MM but you usually select your record source hit record and go. You can also edit as well if you want.
