Hi,

I read guides and many threads on the 9500 to 9700 PRO. I have a Retail Built by ATI Radeon 9500 PRO. They all say about 9500 to 9700 PRO, but can this be done with 9500 Pro to 9700 Pro.

Please could you help me get something more out of this card.

Thanks.

    In a word... no.

ATI produced the 9500 Pro in such a way that the hack to a 9700 can not happen. And believe me, I have looked. I remember when I bought my 9500 Pro I was so happy. Then, about a week after I got it, I found out one could mod the 9500. :banghead: By then though, I didn't feel like sending the 9500 Pro back.

    Unfortunately not.

The Radeon 9500 Pro is an 8-pipeline, 128-bit memory bus device built upon it's own 6-layer PCB. Because of this, there is no "softmod" that can be done to enhance its performance.

Only the Radeon 9500 series built upon the 8-layer Radeon 9700 PCB can have its' extra 4 pipelines unlocked by the softmod.

The only thing you can do for your card is to download Rage3D Tweak from www.rage3d.com and overclock your card. If it does not support overclocking, you'll need to flash your BIOS with warp11's Radeon 9500 Pro BIOS that supports overclocking.

Picture below shows how you can tell the 9700 & 9500 Pro PCB apart. Radeon 9700 (TOP) & Radeon 9500 Pro (BOTTOM)
