Adobe Flash won't work ...

Adobe/Macromedia won't work. When I try to play clips off the web or anything else involving Flash it simply tells me it's not installed. I go thru the install motions and everything goes well ...Flash installed. Then I get the same results. This has been going on for months and I'd like to get it to work for a change.

Any help appreciated.

I would go in to tools->manage addons->addons that have been used->

check to see if flash is there in one form or another, and if it is enabled. If it is enabled, click update activex or whatever it is and it may or may not run you through installation of the latest and greatest.

Then we can take it from there

Sorry if this is obvious, but do you have it selected on the left when you are attempting to get at the update button?

PLEASE tell me EXACTLY what you did!!! I have AVG installed and I'm sure the problem that I'm having with Flash has been since then! It's the very same problem that you have said in your first thread!

I'm not sure if I'm reading it properly...I'm not very good on here:rant: LOL! ... are you saying turn AVG OFF (HOW do I do that...and if I do...will I not then be susceptible of picking up a virus?? - do I then LEAVE AVG switched off??). Do I uninstall AVG completely....if so...what other free virus protector can I download?

Help! It's been driving me mad for 3 weeks now!!!!:wtf:

i think he means just turning AVG off, not uninstalling it, and then reinstalling flash. And to turn it off, i think you just right click the icon in the system tray and select "quit control centre"? :smiles:

Yeah just turn it off. The problem now is that each time I need Flash I have to turn it off ...reinstall Flash ...then turn AVG back on again when I'm done. This really sucks.

Do you have a program called SpyBlaster installed on your pc? If so, click on "Tools" then go to the tab "Flash Killer" and uncheck "Disable Flash in IE". That should fix the problem, but obviously only if you have SpyBlaster installed on your pc.

Many thanks for your replies guys!!

I THINK I've done it!!!:celebrate Not quite sure HOW though!!

    What I did.....

First I tried turning off AVG...I went into programs...AVG...Control Centre.
THEN you double on AVG Resident Shield box and then uncheck 'Turn On AVG Resident Shield Protection.'

I think this is when I tried installing Flash again...no luck...same as before...so I think I then went back and Checked the box in the AVG Control centre back on again...so that I AM still covered by the virus protector.

I THEN went into Google and put in HOW to uninstall Adobe Flash Player plug-in and Active X Control....try this link or put what I did into Google!
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157

Did what it told me to do. Then I went into www.micromedia.com and tried to download Flash AGAIN! THIS TIME I DIDN'T UNCHECK THE YAHOO TOOLBAR!!!....and it worked!!!:eek3: I still have my AVG working fully too - I don't really WANT the Yahoo toolbar..and I know that I can uninstall it...but....I think I'll leave it JUST where it is...for the moment anyway!!!

I tried this and it works so far ...time will tell but so far everything looks good!
I even went so far as to uninstall the toolbar and it's still working. So far so good!

I tried those things. I have both the new IE and Mozilla Firefox, neither of which seem to play shockwave flash. When I got this computer a few months ago, the flash worked perfectly fine, but all of the sudden, it's like it disappeared. I read about the AVG, but I don't have AVG. Also, I checked the allow script function in the Internet Tools, and still I don't seem to have flash working. I can't even locate it in my PC after having it installed. I clicked on the Adobe Flash Update in my Program Files, but it says Installation Was Unsuccessful. Why is it doing this to me? It's driving me up a wall.

    PLEASE HELP, ANYONE!!!
