Yet Another AIM Worm

It wouldn't hurt to pay a little extra attention to the "picture" your AIM Buddy wants to send you.
A new AOL instant-messaging worm is making the rounds, carrying a malicious payload disguised as a JPEG, according to security researchers.

The worm provides a path for rootkits and Trojan horses to propagate on the computers of those listed on the user's buddy list, according to an advisory Monday by FaceTime Security Labs. The W32.pipeline worm is one of a growing number of instant-messaging threats on the Internet.

W32.pipeline initially appears as an instant message from a familiar contact, according to FaceTime security. A message appears asking users to click on a link to upload a picture of themselves; instead, a command file, image18.com, is downloaded and disguised as a JPEG, according to FaceTime.

The GNAA is also doing the rounds by messaging people at random with bots (which is hard to detect as they appear to have more intelligence than the average AOL user) so if you start getting weird messages from people you've never heard of, it may also be this.

wow, what a surprise yet another aim virus..damn those kids sitting in the basement hacking and creating viruses  but luckily for us a smart guy named jay loden has developed a tool known as aimfix which he always updates to remove the latest detected aim virus so i'm sure it's just a matter of time before he updates it for this latest treat:mean:
