helP!?! need 400sd4 restore cds?

hello! i put a new hdd(60 gb) in my gateway laptop 400sd4. I never had the restore cd(s) to begin with, but i need'm now! can anyone help me out/point me in the right direction?? a friend gave me a copy of xp pro os. my computer skill level is novice/intermediate. thanks!!:scratch:

    Gateway should have your restore CDs. Is this a legit copy of XPpro?

    i'm pretty sure it's not... but i purchased the hdd through gateway online & told them i would be needing the restore cd, i just never bothered, thinking it would cost too mch (and too lazy)! would its being legit (or not) matter, either way?

    If you don't have a legal copy of WinXP it will be impossible for us to help you.

    As for the Restore CDs, I would at least check with Gateway. I doubt they would cost as much as a legitimate copy of Windows.
