New computer shopping, ditch my 36gb raptor for an SATA II drive?

I've had my raptor since about 2 months after they came out. It's been bulletproof for me. That being said, am I losing out if I move it to a new system (Core 2 Duo based)? Are the SATA II drives any faster than the 36gb 10k raptors?

If it is mostly for your OS I would suggest to compare seek times and latency. If you need space for file storage I would suggest one of the newer drives and keep your OS on the Raptor.

It wouldn't be for storage, just for the OS and programs. I have a pair of 300gb seagate SATA drives and a mess of externals for storage.

Now to decide on a board and video card.

Stick with the Raptor, DanG. Still a very capable drive, and the access times give it a nice 'feel' in the OS. I still have my pair of trusty first-gen WD360s going strong since the Barton days
