Which one to pick ? Why ? (Anti-Virus)

edited September 2006 in Science & Tech
I did like to hear from you guys what is your position about Norton Internet Security wich comes with Norton Anti-Virus and NOD32...

Aswell as beside those 2 wich one would you go with ANY anti-virus besides those 2 ? Why ?

What is your consideration about Norton Anti-Virus and NOD32 give a rate 1 to 10 and a short why.

thanks :)
i am looking forward to read the replys.
So far i've used Norton Internet Security but i feel like it is heavy and still not safe as it should plus many many problems with network configurations that you have to by hand fix and allow.

But i like very much that youre safe to open lots URLs without worry to get busted.

While NOD32 youre not that safe to open most URLs but it does a nice job at all.

PS i tried a search with Anti-Virus and best anti-virus but didnt found anything around this so i am making this topic i bet many people have asked themselfs those questions.

Sorry about my ugly english :P not my main language.

I use Avast. I'd recommend either the free version of AVG or the free version of Avast for a home user. They're both less resource-intensive than Norton, and they're both free.

I've never heard of NOD32. I would not trust a security product that I've never heard of after following the PC industry for the past decade.

NOD32 has quite a following, and is a pretty good av, I would put it right around AVG. if I had too.

That question if any of u guys have used those i did like to hear aswell.

Yeah i agree with "resource-intensive" for Norton that why i came with NOD32 looks pretty light.

How good is AVG compared to paid version like norton and nod32 ?

AVG, Kaspersky, NOD32, and AVAST are amongst the best the AV industry have to offer. You can't go wrong with any of them, and you certainly can't go wrong with free. ;) I use AVG when I feel like using an AV program, and am always happy with it.

I personally prefer Kaspersky AV. But Eset NOD32 is great, also. It is very light on the resources.

I put antiVir on the new yearbook computers, and I do have to say, that it is a pretty slick program.

I had AVG on them, but our wonderfull webBlocker blocked all traffic to the site, including updates, and if I cant keep it updated, then it isnt any good to me. so I put Anti Vir on after removing AVG, it works like a charm now, and I have it scheduled to update every day, and scan once a week.

ive been using AVG for a few years now, and its fantastic. We use Norton AV 9 corporate edition at work, is FAR supirior to the olden days of norton, but i cant justify BUYING a antivirus program when so many are as good if not better in ways and they are free. Ive also seen Nod 32 explode with Daemon Tools

Well i think when youre looking for a paid AV it is because you want the support and feedback.

It is like if something new comes up they are obey to bring up a fix before you even notice the virus went around :P

Any way i appreciate all the reply and contribution in this topic i think i will test AVG aswell as AntiVir.

i would appreciate if u guys keep posting new comments :) it is always good to know what others have experienced with this

    regards;

+1 for NOD32. Haven't had a problem yet and it's pretty good on resources. Currently only using 9.2MB of ram.
