Despite it's price and other gaming consoles available in the market, the PS3 still created a buzz at the Tokyo game show as Japanese gamers got their first chance to play the new console.
Gamers eager to try the new Playstation console waited for up to 70 minutes for their turn.
"I saw all types of people come through, from age five up to 60, and quite a few girls," said a Sony official at the stand.
Sony Microsoft and Nintendo are intensifying their battle for control of the US$25-billion global gaming market. With Sony slashing its price tag on the PS3 by one-fifth in Japan, it hopes the lower price will make it more affordable to gamers, particularly to the non-hardcore gamers which Sony seems to be targeting.
Originally scheduled to be rolled out in March, the PS3 is now finally set to hit the shelves in Japan on Nov. 11 and in the US on Nov. 17.

"Great! Fun! And there are lots of games," exclaimed 20-year-old brothers Masaki and Takafumi Endo.
"It's just like cinema," Masaki said.

I will end up buying one once they are sitting on shelves, I have to many PC games to keep me busy and will allow me to avoid the crazy crowds and masses of people.
