Media Player Help

edited October 2006 in Science & Tech
I recently had a computer that a Windows system file got corrupted & Windows XP Pro had to be re-installed. I've got almost everything back up & running except for Media Player. When Windows re-installed, it installed Media Player 9 but music that had been downloaded would not play so I upgraded to the latest version which is 11. It still won't play so I rolled it back to version 9 & installed version 10 since that was what was on the computer when the music was downloaded. It still won't play. It says the licenses are missing but they were backed up (on a cd). When I try to restore them, it says no licenses were found. I have combed microsoft's web site & tried every media fix I could find. Nothing works. Can anyone help? Thanks.

    Sounds like she just did.

Try this. In Media Player, go to the Manage Licenses... as shown here, and make sure Media Player is pointed to the store for your license backup.

Thank you both. Yes. I did reformat my PC & I have not only tried to restore from the license backup I had on my PC but I had also backed that file up on a disk. Neither backup will work.
