NVIDIA Gearing Up For The Release Of The G80

NVIDIA is advising its partners to clear their GX2 and 7900 GTX video cards from their inventory as it prepares for the release of the G80.

This card should replace the GX2 as the performance king. ATI still haven't efficiently matched the Geforce 7900 GX2 and Nvidia is already on the brink of introducing the G80.
It seems Nvidia is inviting the Tech. Journalists to their headquarters in California, around mid October for a peek at the G80, so we could see a release of this card early in November.

At this stage not much is known about it except that it is a 90 nanometre chip.

reading your post, it seems that NVIDIA is better than ATI since they have faster chips and everything....or at least NVIDIA is a step ahead of ATI....

That isn't a good assumption, ATI and NVIDIA both make great cards, and depending on the price range one is better than the other.

Both ATI & NVIDIA have power house cards rolling out in the next few months for the high end users, so sit back and enjoy the show as these next Gen card will be ones to watch.

Is a new chipset required for DX10 compatibility?

No such thing as DX10 G70 cards ever? The Nvidia DX10 cards will be 8600, 8800, 8900 and so on?

No new chipset required, however you will need Windows Vista to run DX10 and DX10 games.

As for DX10 G70 cards, the probability is very, very, very slight. Margin of error slight.

Problem is for some of us though that ATi's Linux drivers are utter crap compared to nVidias (sounds like Windows going back a few years doesn't it). So NV always comes out on top there.

They were going to release it with SP3 but decided it would be best to just rape your wallet instead.
