Malware removal help[RESOLVED]

Hello folks,

I'm an idiot, I thought of myself as a fairly smart computer user when it came to preventing my system from being infected, but alas, here I am ... I opened a file I shouldn't have, and I've been experiencing:

-slow computer
-excessive pop-ups

I've tried my best to remove all of the crap on my computer myself, but it hasn't worked. I've searched this forum and tried different things here, and when I think I've removed everything, stuff just keeps coming back.

So I need your help. Here's my hijackThis log:

I can understand you still having popups, vundo files are still there!

May I see the vundo txt?
Don't worry we'll take care of it another way, I just want to check if vundofix didn't find those files.
  • edited October 2006
well prior to posting my first post, I had already run vundofix... I don't have the log ... but it removed files ... I had rebooted and there was still popups... and then I posted here.

I did run the vundofix again when you asked me to, and the scan showed nothing and nothing was removed.

Okay let's use Avenger to kill those files showing in your log.

Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop.
    http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/avenger.zip

*Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
    *Extract avenger.exe to your desktop

    Start up Avenger.
Check the 'Input script manually' option.
    Click the Magnifying Glass icon.
In the box that opens, copy, then paste the following bold text:

    Files to delete:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\sstts.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\unaoakg.dll

    Registry keys to delete:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\sstts
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\wincqt32

    Then click on 'Done'.
Click the Traffic Light icon to start the program.
Then press OK at the prompts to reboot your PC.

Post the Avenger output.txt, which you can find at C:\Avenger\.txt when you've done.

After you've done Avenger, run Combofix.
    Download this file - combofix.exe
    http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/combofix.exe
Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Can you please make sure that when you input those registry keys to delete, the path is not cut off?
when I posted it the registry paths are cut off making them 4 lines, it should only be 2 lines because it's only 2 reg keys to delete.

    So, how bad is it?

Still some nasty there, we need to check where they're coming from.

    You need to uninstall VSToolbar

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\tmcomm.sys <-- submit this file at http://virusscan.jotti.org/
    to check if it's infected.

    Start up Avenger again.
Check the 'Input script manually' option.
    Click the Magnifying Glass icon.
In the box that opens, copy, then paste the following bold text:

    Files to delete:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\sttss.bak2
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\khlryumg.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\sttss.bak1
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ayvpnjub.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\hvrxcvia.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\yyxxhgxn.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\uhvjsul.dll

    Then click on 'Done'.
Click the Traffic Light icon to start the program.
Then press OK at the prompts to reboot your PC.

Post the Avenger output.txt, which you can find at C:\Avenger\.txt when you've done.

Can you also run Silent Runners and Blacklight?
    Please download Silent Runners.
    http://www.silentrunners.org/Silent%20Runners.vbs
    * Save it to the desktop.
    * Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
    * You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done yet, just let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
    * Once you receive the prompt "All Done!", double-click on the new text file on the desktop and copy that entire log and upload the logfile created, go here and paste your log, http://www.rafb.net/paste/
then at the bottom left corner click "paste"
Copy the address/url and post it here:

*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

Download (Download the GUI) version of BlackLight, and save it to your desktop.
    https://europe.f-secure.com/blacklight/try.shtml
Doubleclick blbeta.exe, accept the agreement, click scan > next.

You'll see a list of all the items it found. There will also be a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (where xxxxxxx represents numbers). The application finds both bad files and legitimate ones such as "wbemtest.exe", so don't choose the rename option yet! Copy and paste the log it generated in your next reply.
