Halo wars?

edited October 2006 in Gaming
I was just wondering if anyone had seen this www.halowars.com and if it looks interesting\ going to be overrated to anyone. Before someone says but it will be console it won't work well, keep in mind that Lord of the rings: the battle for middle earth 2 isn't too terribly hard to control on the 360. So it is very possible halo wars will be decent.

Erm, little to no info on their, "Images" look more like concept art than screenshots and the FAQ looks like it was written by a fanboy that was lacking info on the game, heh.

And yes, RTSs and FPSs on consoles do suck, and will continue to without a keyboard a mouse :p

They only suck if you don't have a keyboard and mouse that works the same way a computer K/M works

I'm not a console fan at all but, why do you need a keyboard to enjoy a game?
I play FPS a lot but never use a keyboard.

Pardon my bluntness: How do you play an FPS without a keyboard, provided the controller is not the (Inferior-as-all-hell alternative)? Is that what you're implying? :wtf:

Whenever I say this I get asked how?
I have a Saitek p3000 wireless pad. The 'D' pad is set to the directions, up, down, left and right. The left trigger is set for jump. I have a MX1000 so I can set 11 actions to the mouse. Playing like this I can move my arms around so don't get the cramp I get from playing with a keyboard. I find it much easier and comfortable and if there's any responce differance I'm not aware of it. I have one profile for the mouse and pad and just change the games control setting so every game I play has the same controls, more or less. I cannot play through a keyboard, just what you're used to I suppose.

Okay before you imply it is fake, maybe i forgot to add in my xbox live Sep. e-mail newletter link had it listed as the video of the month.... I can see your point about the Rts can suck but I really do perfer a controller feel for FPS. Some people claim keyboard = more control for FPS but I honestly find controllers easier and have no real probelms controlling my character.

That's because you have auto-aim (and designed around that process aswell) in addition to a game built to use labotomised controls.

Alright, guys. Let's not degrade this thread to another fight about why "keyboard and mouse are better than controller" or vice-versa. Get back on topic, please.

I cant see this game being on Xbox only, RTS suck on contoller ( well most people think so ) and with Ensamble doing it I see it being pushed onto pc fairly soon

Yea I do agree with it being 360 only kind of stupid, of course they're plans may shift as they did not even say you would be able to play as the covenant. Personally that leaves 1 race which would make it lame (they would not do the flood if they did not make the covenant a race.) Personally I expect flood + human + covenant for the races, but that would make it a starcraft rip off.

I'm willing to wait and see. I have high hopes for the game. Since it's not really going to be a port, hopefully the controller style controls will fit in with the game. I'm a PC and a console gamer, and I have little trouble switching back and forth, nor do I mind.

I've enjoyed the Halo franchise to this point, aside from the OMGWTFBBQ ending of Halo 2, so this could be an enjoyable game. Too early to tell, I'd say.
