Suspending monitors with a key combo?

I have a customer that needs a QUAD view setup to be suspended on the fly with a key combo. Having the monitors set to suspend themselves at a set idle interval is not an option because it is a security camera monitoring station that won't be actively USED, but WILL be actively viewed. However, when the customer wants to suspend viewing, they want to be able to suspend the monitors WITHOUT suspending the computer itself.

I've done some googling to try and find an answer, however all I have come up with is dead links.

I need some help guys. :)

Instead of controlling the monitors, can you control the video card? On the ATI Mobility card on this T-Pad I can make a scheme that directs the video to one of several outputs, then assign a hot key to the scheme. Depending on the video card, there might also be some hot-key configurability you could use in the sys-tray thing all good geeks disable.
