XP Service Pack 2
MediaMan
Powered by loose parts.
While Service Pack 2 was out there for a bit before it mysteriously disappeared and won't be released before 2004...did anyone manage to grab it and try it out.
I installed it no problem. It has a desktop message but when I installed the NFORCE2 drivers on the A7N8X motherboard...everything went for poop. My CDROM kept trying to install and a mess of other devices came up to install.
Anyone have any thoughts? Experiences?

The last time I looked at my calendar what feels like 2 days ago it was still September... o_O
I learned my lesson about early adoption of Microsoft software with the crash generator that was IE 5.5 Beta... what's worse is that the uninstall option was greyed out.
Needless to say I had to drop $200 on an 4x HP burner (this was summer of 2000--running Windows 98FE at the time), back up several gigs of stuff I downloaded (was on dialup...) and completely reformat and reinstall...
More recently, say a little more than a month ago, I installed an update for Windows XP that resutled in a no-boot condition. since I have the default Administrator account disabled, ASR didn't go and I had to do a repair install...
Having to reinstall XP fixed a lot of inexplicable spontaneous crashing I had as well... so in my experience XP is just like any other windows O/S... unstable after one year of operation, catastrophic failure after two. (with the exception of millenium edition, which usually suffers a catastrophic failure after one.)
It crashed again a few minutes ago because Word couldn't find a floppy disk with a certain .doc file it wanted.
Lots of stupid crashes with that OS...
