As we sit here in our fast growing render power for team 93 we stand in 12th place within the F@H project... and well I think we can do better than that, I honestly do. We have a huge team of dedicated folders and we gain new members daily...

attachment.php?attachmentid=21368&d=1160663542
3 teams are on our tails and will catch up with us if we don't start recruiting or adding CPU's to our lines :) so doing some basic math each of us needs to boost our production by about 72 points per day so we can get past the level of threat "currently" If each of us are able to get 1 person to start folding for team 93 the gap will be closed and we will rise above and start gaining on the top 11 teams once again.

There are many ways to get new CPU's folding & people interested; I do the following when I can. Bring it up at a dinner party with family, ask a friends, go to your local LAN center and pitch for them to run it on there handful of PC's, Ask a co-worker, ask your IT guy, If you do computer repairs offer a discount if they install F@H on their PC as a service.

I think we can all get things going on this... I personally just recently got 2 of my buddies to start folding for team 93. So what can you do? I know if all our current SMx rigs were folding it would drop the current 72 points per day down to 63 points per day... so lets get folding boys & girls....
Get Team 93 out of the Red! & Let’s see more Green

Even though I fold for a team on the tail of Team 93 (CustomPC), its great how much effort and support short-media gives out. We ALL will hopefully make a difference to everyone with the work that this project is doing. The competition part is icing on the cake!

Race you to 10th spot! :D

    w00t!!

Exactly - come on. We've got about 216 active folders. I've challenged everyone to see how many machines they can (legally) get joined up with Team 93. I'm keeping score here.

Let's see how many we can get before the end of October!

On a Larger Note: when we jump our production to get out of the Red we will have green for 3 teams and could land us in the top 10 :) so lets boost our teams daily production by about 20 - 25k and we are golden!

ok so... 20-25K ppd = how many more CPU's?

    A lot...like hundreds...maybe 3 or 4 hundred average speed CPUs?

If we can get 130 CPU's pushing 153 points per day that would cover us :) on 20K...

To give us a nice leap and cushion around 150 CPU's would be needed :)

    What CPU is that though?

    correction: 150 cores?

That's what I was asking lol. 150 dual core CPUs, or just 150, 153 ppd instances.

Moreover, what CPUs produce 150+ points per day these days? Single or dual core.

I'd say 150 cores, no? is a C2D = 2x single core machines? (all other things being equal, like memory, fsb, etc.

Well a stock E6300 will do almost 150 points per core per day on units with crappy point values. Even better with the better units.

If it's only 150 cores, all we need is 75 Core 2 Duos and we've got it. :)

I know that we can do this. 150ppd isnt that much, my minute A64 2800+ was doing like 120ppd.

cool. well I've got a thread going to challenge us all to get 100 new cores by the end of octber, and we're doing fantastic so far!!

    InPharm details from him........

"If anyones interested its actually in a single location in Central London. Its 14 Blade Centers each with 14xBlades and each blade has a two 3.4G Xeons. 28 are used for something else and the rest are either slow at folding or have developed a hardware fault."

.....Our aim as a team is to get into the top 10, then move on from there, we do need to keep our active folders percentage up. It all for a good cause so I am trying to get my hands on more PC's like everyone is for Short media.

Well done on your farm Techno - very impressive - great guide too for the active directory, will use that if I get a chance!

Krazeyivan, pass the word to your team that we are quite impressed. :wow2:

We love the competition and we love to win, but we love the work this project is doing most of all. :)

We won't go down without a fight, though! :ninja:

I think you guys won't have any problems! :)

Thanks! Hopefully the AD guide will benefit quite a few teams, and of course the F@H project. (and hopefullt Short-Media before any other teams.., :P)

We'll try to make it difficult for ya!! (but I think with the addition of that many blades, you guys are going pretty well now... :) )

I've re-sent out emails to local businesses offering my services to clean up their AD in return for folding machines instead of $... hopefully someone will get back to me and I can give the UK farm a run for its money!

rock on, thx for folding :fold:

Thanks guys - we (like anyone) take all the help we can get!
Thats a great idea about sorting the AD for folding - shame all the people in charge here are not so open minded - if I managed to get the head IT person at my work onboard - I would have a farm of wonderous ability!
The network I work for is spread over 150 sq miles - many thousands of PC's possibly 5 figures for all sites. Now thats some ppd!

I'd recommend setting the service to run at 20% peak CPU capability and pushing it out to the whole lot... :-) With 3000 PC's, that would be the equivalent of 600 machines folding full-time...

EDIT: and setting it up under T93, of course.

Thanks for the advice - will see if I can get any positive thoughts out of the boss - I think his answer will be its not helping me - so why create the network chatter and use my bandwidth - such negative souls!!

Thanks for the advice techno! --- especially the T93 part.......if your points go up massively do I get a shout out? ;)

For 50K ppd? I'll make you the owner of a brand-new... never-used... in-the-box... original soundblaster PCI sound card! It's Windows 95 compatible! :woowoo:

might not be as bad as we thought. Looks like inpharm had a bit of a spike, but leveled off at about 30K/day. Still a crapload of points (about double mine), bt at least it seems easier to chase after than 50-60K/day... :D
