Slipstreaming with nLite on a SATA drive

edited October 2006 in Science & Tech
I have found this guide http://www.short-media.com/printcontent.php?print=r&id=284 that describes how to slipstreaming windows installation. I have decided that it is time for me to do a reformat of my C: drive and install a new copy of Windows XP-64 bit. Problem is, the disk I want windows installed on is a SATA drive. My motherboard is an ASUS A8V-E SE with the VIA K8T890 chipset. The guide says I need to find the newest drivers for that, and some research on the internet have left me completely puzzled. It's just such a mess trying to figure out what the correct driver is. Can anyone help me and point me to the correct driver?

    Hello sir.

I Google'd 'Asus Drivers' and found this page on the Asus Support Website.

    ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-

    > Use the three drop down menus to locate your motherboard and "Search"
    > Click on the tab "Drivers"

If you'll notice the different drivers have description detailing when they are for and a separate line that states what OS it's for. There are 5 or 6 drivers that are made for the WinXP 64bit OS, these are all current btw. I'd recommend updating all the drivers, not only the SATA Drivers.

    Hi

Finally decided I MUST Slipstream** after 4 re-installs in the last 3 weeks (Win2K), the last install I did was to a new SATA drive, I didn't load any drivers on boot but the drive was recognised (ECS RS400A m/b) does this mean I don't need to slipstream SATA drivers?

Also will I be able to EnableBigLBA via this too?

    Thanks in advance.

**Many thanks to whoever did the nLite review/tutorial.

So how do I get nLite to automatically install these drivers before it starts to install windows?

Here is your driver set: 64-bit RAID drivers

Download the drivers and extract the files to your defined directory, open nLite and just go to the integrate drivers option. Cut and dry from there on.
