hey everyone

lately my computer seems like its working a lot even when all windows and programs are closed. also...often Norton AntiVirus warns me that some file form the Windows/TEMP folder is trying to reach the internet. im unsure what it is ...but i must have a virus somewhere.

I have already run Spybot Search&Destroy and Lavasoft Ad-Aware
anyone that can help me with hijackthis...thank you

Sorry for the wait, if you still need help please follow the steps below.

You might like to move your Hijackthis.exe into its own permanent folder so it doesn't get accidentally deleted when you clean your temp folders. Hijackthis also keeps a backup of the entries that are fixed.


1. Download Pocket Killbox.

*Select the "Delete on Reboot" option.
*Select "All Files"
*Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winjvd32.dll

*Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
*Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.
*If the computer doesn't restart, just restart manually.


2. Download and run ATF Cleaner by Atribune.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode.

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox browser
Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

If you use Opera browser
Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.


3. First download AVG Anti-Spyware from HERE and save that file to your desktop.
This is a 30 day trial of the program

1. Once you have downloaded AVG Anti-Spyware, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
2. Once the setup is complete you will need run AVG Anti-Spyware and update the definition files.
3. On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "Update now" link.
   • Next select the "Start Update" button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
4. Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
5. Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine".
6. Under "Reports"
   • Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
   • Un-Select "Only if threats were found"

Close AVG Anti-Spyware, Do Not run a scan just yet, we will shortly.

1. Reboot your computer into SafeMode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight SafeMode then hit enter.
   IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while AVG Anti-Spyware is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning proccess:
2. Lauch AVG Anti-Spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
3. Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan".
4. AVG Anti-Spyware will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
   Once the scan is complete do the following:
5. If you have any infections you will prompted, then select "Apply all actions"
6. Next select the "Reports" icon at the top.
7. Select the "Save report as" button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important).
8. Close AVG Anti-Spyware and reboot your system back into Normal Mode and post the results of the AVG Anti-Spyware report scan.

Okay, so AVG found downloader Win.Delf, the rest are in System Restore(you can flush restore points later). the other trojans are Killbox backup files and they are harmless now. You can delete those backups you certainly don't need backup copies of trojans.

The dialer is gone, but let's check for the WinDelf downloader.

1. Let's run WinDelf tool to check if there are other files there present:
Download win32delfkil.exe.
http://users.telenet.be/marcvn/tools/win32delfkil.exe
Save it on your desktop.
Close all windows.
Double click on win32delfkil.exe to start the removaltool.
The computer will reboot automatically.
After reboot a logfile will open: c:\windelf.txt
Post the contents of the logfile, along with a new HijackThis log.


2. Run Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries and click "Fix Checked" while all browsers and other windows are closed.

Also do this:

Start > Run > type in

cmd

Press OK then type or copy and paste these commands onto the cmd screen pressing Enter after each line:
sc stop SXServ
sc delete SXServ



Flush your system restore points:
To turn off Windows XP System Restore:
1. Click Start.
2. Right-click the My Computer icon, and then click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Check "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives"
5. Click Apply.
6. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click Yes to do this.
7. Click OK.
8. Restart the computer and follow the instructions in the next section to turn on System Restore.

4. Uncheck "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives."

To create a new restore point:
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
click "Create a new restore point" click "Next".
