IE 7 Command Bar

Finally downloaded IE 7....again. Probably stay with it now as my bank site works on it.

I already got rid of the tabbed browsing (I know a lot of people like that....just takes space as far as I'm concerned) but I still have this new Command Bar thing. It's just as thick as the tabs, and is completely unnecessary, especially if you bring back the Menu Bar.

I've Googled this and a lot of people are asking this. Anyone know how to get rid of this wasted half inch of screen real estate?

Sure. It's the happy little icons in the bar shown by the red arrow. As you can see I have toolbars unlocked in this shot. I can move the menu and links, but can't move or get rid of this new command bar thing that's taking space I could use to actually see a web site.

Thanks for the pic. Have you tried this?

Right-click on an empty space --> Customize Command Bar --> Add or Remove Commands... and then remove everything from the right to the left.

I'm not sure if it will leave the gap there. Worth a try though.

Tried that, as have many other people I've seen ask about this. If you remove all the commands, you still have the empty bar taking up space. Then when you take IE down and bring it back up, all the cheery little icons are back.

I got IE7, as you probably can tell, but never use it unless needed. I'll have a play around and let you know if I find anything. Might be a day or two cause I'm going away.

From what I'm seeing by Googling, you'd be an Internet God :woowoo: if you posted the answer to this one.

Hey mtrox! I can't figure it out and google shows no answers, as you said. I think we're stuck with the command bar unless MS rolls out an update or something.
