Remote / Virtual Soundcard?

Here's my situation:
My computer is in a hallway that is totally isolated from everything except a Cat5E link to the network. I have my Linux dev box in my room, which is connected to my sound system. Is there a way to output my sound via a faux driver or something to the audio port on the linux system, so that I can control my music via iTunes on my pc and still hear it through my stereo?
Has anyone seen anything like this in practice?
