Best gaming Processor (single core or duel)

I am building a two gaming machines and am trying to figure out which processor is better for gaming (single core or duel core).

For my sons computer I will ber useing an Asus A8N32-SLI Delux

I will be using an Asus Crosshair

any suggestions on the processor and why

    I would go with dual core of course... why? Because it's dual-core....?
